On the west coast of Sweden, an hour’s drive north from Sweden’s second biggest city of Gothenburg, you’ll find Arcona Yachts. The headquarters, main production facilities and development centre are located here and the yard is really buzzing with activity.
The production team is working 24/7 to enable the launch of the new flagship, the Arcona 50, which has been in development since early 2022, and is the first model designed by Jeppesen & Pons. Jeppesen & Pons Yacht Design is a newly established cooperation, with a background from one of the leading European yacht brands.
The Arcona 50 is targeting the prestigious high-quality performance cruiser market, applying the latest and most advanced build technology for both the lamination process as well as the interior. Vacuum infusion of both hull, hull liner, deck and deck liner utilising vinylester plus local use of carbon fibre and the application of lightweight cored composite and marine plywood panels for the interior is securing an ambitious goal. The goal of delivering an outstanding ratio between the displacement and the weight of the keel, securing high stability for the benefit of the overall sailing performance and especially the comfort for the owners and guests on board when under sail.
Offering the ultimate balance between exceptional sailing and serenity at sea, whether you are sailing with family, friends or just the two of you, the Arcona 50 is designed to be easy to handle and provide an extraordinary sailing experience. The Arcona 50 is a tribute to the west coast’s boatbuilding heritage and craftsmanship, made with care and attention to every detail. A comprehensive test programme will start in mid July and will be carried out by Arcona Yachts’ experienced technicians and management team, the leading rigging and sail suppliers as well as Niels Jeppesen and Ariadna Pons, the designers.
The first Arcona 50 will include a widely representative selection of options, including the carbon bowsprit for the asymmetric spinnaker, retractable bow and stern thrusters, electrically powered furling systems for both main and headsails, composite Flexiteek decking. Below deck, she has an oak interior (Khaya Mahogany is standard), aft cabins with twin or double berthing, and much more.
The world début will be at the Orust Sailboat Show with Open Yard in Sweden, 25 – 27th August, then she will go to HISWA in the Netherlands from 30th August – 3rd September followed by Southampton International Boat Show from 15th – 24th September.
A mini-series will be revealed over the forthcoming weeks introducing the audience to some of the team behind the build of Arcona Yachts including the new Arcona 50 flagship. Watch episode one here:
