01/09/23

Arcona is proud to announce that the new Arcona 50, the first Arcona by Jeppesen & Pons, is nominated for a European Yacht of the Year award.

Offering the ultimate balance between exceptional sailing and serenity at sea, whether you are sailing with family, friends or just the two of you, the Arcona 50 is designed to be easy to handle and provide an extraordinary sailing experience. The Arcona 50 is a tribute to the west coast’s boatbuilding heritage and craftsmanship, made with care and attention to every detail.

The Arcona 50 luxury performance cruiser applies the latest and most advanced build technology for both the lamination process as well as the interior. Vacuum infusion of both hull, hull liner, deck, and deck liner utilising vinylester plus local use of carbon fibre and the application of lightweight cored composite and marine plywood panels for the interior is securing an ambitious goal. The goal of delivering an outstanding ratio between the displacement and the weight of the keel, securing high stability for the benefit of the overall sailing performance and especially the comfort for the owners and guests on board when under sail.

Arcona Yachts CEO, Urban Lagnéus, said, “We are delighted to receive this award nomination for the Arcona 50. Jeppesen & Pons have designed a beautiful performance cruiser and the team here in Sweden have worked incredibly hard to build this new model. It is a great accolade for all of us to be nominated for such a prestigious award.”

Often referred to as the “Oscar” of yachting, the European Yacht of the Year awards reach an international audience of several million sailing enthusiasts, boat owners and industry executives. Established by German sail magazine YACHT, it was first presented at boot Düsseldorf in 2004. Today 12 magazines from all over Europe make up the jury, each of them the leading voice in their respective countries and respected beyond national borders. Editors and test experts come together four times every year to nominate the candidates and put all the boats through their paces in joint sea trials for several days in a row.

The winners will be announced at boot Düsseldorf, 20 – 28 January 2024.

The Arcona 50 is currently on display at Hiswa te water up to and including 3rd September. She will then be available to view at Southampton International Boat Show, 15 – 24 September alongside the Arcona 435 Mk II.
